Today, the evolution paradigm encompasses the science of biology and is also the guiding principle to our entire scientific world view. It is essential for understanding the achievements of modern phylogenetic taxonomy including most of the biological sciences (comparative anatomy and intracellular biology. Advancements during the last half a century in the natural sciences such as molecular genetics have increasingly revealed to researchers the mechanisms of evolution. A tension exists however, between the evolution paradigm and the outlook of ontological hierarchy shared by our everyday perspective and the conventional attitudes of religious history. This article addresses the multifaceted and complex question of whether these two standpoints are indeed compatible and presents a positive answer.
