Tartalmi leírás:
In lack of seismic provisions in the pre-Eurocode ages, most of the existing Hungarian bridges are not designed for seismic actions. Hungary can be characterized with moderate seismicity, the seismic performance of existing bridges is questionable. The most commonly used structural type is the precast multi-girder (PMG) bridge amounting to the half of the 3200 bridges of higher level roads. PMG bridges in Hungary are constructed as continuous systems with integrate joints, thus their behavior can be significantly different from those applying simple supported beams and conventional bearings. Multi-modal response spectrum analysis is used for parametric studies to understand the seismic behavior and to determine critical configurations and bridge components. A parametric fragility analysis is also carried out to calculate the probabilities of different damage occurrences. The results indicate that the superstructure-substructure joints as well as the piers are critical at longer multi-span bridges. The study provides an expected seismic risk in moderate seismic areas, and shows that without seismic design, integrated PMG bridges are highly susceptible to pier shear failure. The results also provide solid base for retrofit planning as well as for development of design concepts of newly built structures in moderate seismic zones.
