Tartalmi leírás:
Tha Bakony appears as a foreign body in Paleozoic and Triassic paleogeographic reconstructions (Schönlaub and Prey in Oberhauser, 1980). The distribution of Permian and Triassic facies zones in the Transdanubain Midmountains (western Hungary) enabled Kovács (1983) to fit the Bakony-Drauzug Unit in the place of the foreign body.
The Bakony-Drauzug Unit (Bakonyicum) is defined as a separate tectono-facial unit of the Alpine system between the Eastern and Southern Alps, bordered by the Defereggental-Anterselva-Valles-Rába lineament (DAV-Rába Lineament) to the north and the Gailtal-Balaton Lineament to the south.
Paleogeographic reconstructions are presented for the Middle Eocene, Early Oligocene, Middle Oligocene, Late Oligocene-Earliest Miocene and the end of the Middle Miocene.
An eastward directed continental escape took place following the Mesoalpine tectogenesis: a 450 to 500 km shift in 25 to 30 million years, from Middle Eocene to Late Oligocene. A 35 degrees counterclockwise rotation in the Miocene (Márton, 1982, pers. comm.), connected with the folding of the Outer West Carpathians, completed the emplacement of the Bakony.
